Project Scope

At Arcanum Works, we lead creative development and real-time interactive previsualization of Ocean Threshold, an immersive VR art game prototype exploring mythological threshold states and psychological transformation through symbolic gameplay and spatial storytelling.

Built in Unreal Engine, the project required the creation of a narrative-driven labyrinth composed of surreal, emotionally-charged environments - mirror rooms, floating islands, light threads, and fragmented cosmic voids. The narrative unfolds through metaphors of memory and trauma, with gameplay centered on a single symbolic act of finding the new meaning.

What we did

  • Developed the core concept, mythological narrative framework, and symbolic world logic
  • Designed interactive mechanics and VR previsualization environments for prototype testing and immersive design validation
  • Created level layouts, cinematic sequences, and emotional pacing in Unreal Engine for a seamless narrative-immersive flow
  • Directed environment design and visual R&D to reflect psychological states through spatial abstraction and dynamic lighting
  • Led internal pipeline and tool integration, including customized Houdini assets and modular blueprint systems
  • Built a modular architecture for future expansions and integration into festivals, galleries, or commercial IP development
